The AECT utilizes JavaScript coding for the form design and Formcalc coding for all emissions calculations. This software enabled the Department to develop an interactive AECT form that can be custom built by the applicant or permit writer based on the specific air emissions equipment for each oil & gas or aggregate processing facility. Adobe later extracted these functions from Acrobat and incorporated the designer functions into a new Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 software.

Rick Poley originally began developing individual emission unit calculation forms using the built-in designer functions in Adobe Acrobat Pro in 2016. This form morphed into this incredibly useful AECT for calculating and reviewing emission from multiple types of emission units with over 130 pages of content. Rick suggested a form to calculate engine emissions.
